The local's take

Windswept Dunes is the bucket-list curiosity. Doug O'Rourke built actual dunes — some 20 feet high — in north Florida. At 7,752 from the back, this is the longest course in the state. Choose your tees honestly: the championship is for tour pros. From the Emerald tees (6,533) it's a fair test. About 30 min from 30A — make a half-day of it.

Holes worth knowing

The dunes are the headline — some up to 20 feet. Hole 3 (par 5, 585 yards) is the longest; hole 7 (par 4, 475 yds) is the #1 handicap.

3Par 5 · 585 yds
The longest hole on the course

585 yards of par 5 from the championship tees. Three-shot hole for nearly everyone. Sand waste left, deep bunkers right.

7Par 4 · 475 yds
The #1 handicap

At 475 yards from the back, the toughest hole on the course. Played into the prevailing wind. Pars stick here.

12Par 3 · 185 yds
The shortest par 3 — but watch the wind

Shortest hole on the course but the wind off the dunes can add two clubs. Aim for the middle of the green.

13Par 5 · 516 yds
Easiest hole on the course

Lowest handicap rating despite being a long par 5. Generous landing area, reachable in two from the Ocean tees.
